Adaptive Sport Fishing Program

The purpose of the Stoke for Life Adaptive Sport Fishing Program is to expose novice or seasoned adaptive anglers and people with disabilities to southern California sport fishing up close and personal. Stoke for Life has acquired a 17ft center console “Invader” fishing boat powered by a 2020 Evinrude Etec K115hp engine, and a 16ft center console “Neptune Sea Bird” powered by a 90hp Mercury engine. These will be the heartbeat for the Adaptive Sport Fishing Program. This is a small grass roots adaptive sport fishing program that is fueled by decades of local fishing knowledge with a pure love for sport fishing and ocean therapy.

With the addition of the Adaptive Sport Fishing program and the Invader and Neptune, Stoke for Life Foundation will have the ability to take 2-4 adaptive anglers inshore sport fishing or on a Coronado Island sport fishing trip to catch halibut, calico bass, assorted rock fish, and yellowtail, dorado, yellowfin and bluefin tuna when in season. The adaptive sport fishing program is geared to give adaptive anglers the opportunity to target pelagic species that thrive in Southern California waters, also the chance to harvest some of the most delicious fish anywhere on the planet.

Access to fishing for people with disabilities is not easy whether it be on a lake, in the bay, or open ocean fishing, we have found it difficult for people with disabilities to access places with great fishing. This is the primary reason for Stoke for Life Foundation to start the Adaptive Sport Fishing Program, and to keep it small and personable so we can key in on catching fish and giving our participants great experiences.
